Justin Morneau set to return Wednesday

The Twins plan to activate Justin Morneau from the disabled list before Wednesday's game against the Tigers. He's been out with a sore left wrist, but feels good enough to get back in the lineup. He'll also start at first base, according to Ron Gardenhire.

Morneau: DH for now?

Justin Morneau might be used as a designated hitter more often than a first baseman this season. Doctors have told Morneau that he's more vulnerable to concussion symptoms returning if his body wears down. Morneau is hot over his last three spring games, going 4-9 with two doubles, two homers and five RBI -- all of which he was the Twins' designated hitter.

Morneau on concussion quotes: 'I gave an honest answer'

Twins first baseman Justin Morneau tells reporters that it doesn't take "a rocket scientist" to figure out if his concussion symptoms continue, he probably won't be able to play again.

Spring Training: Morneau set to play back-to-back games

It was a double off the wall for Justin Morneau today in a “B” game against the Red Sox. The Twins’ first baseman will be in the lineup again tomorrow against Tampa Bay, his first back-to-back games of the spring.

Butera called up, Morneau may land on DL

Twins DH Justin Morneau is back in the Twins Cities today to have his surgically-repaired wrist checked out. If it's bad news, he could end up on the disabled list. In the meantime, cathcer Drew Butera has been called up from Triple A Rochester.

Twins' Morneau dealing with typical post-surgical complications

Justin Morneau doesn’t know when his wrist will feel good enough to return to the Twins’ lineup, but he won’t return until he can “get to the point where it’s tolerable and not something that lingers.” He is hopeful that he can put this setback in the “rear-view mirror” as soon as possible.

Twins' Morneau accepts DH role

Justin Morneau fully expected to play first base for the Twins on Opening Day. But the slugger tells the Pioneer Press if it makes more sense for him to be the full time designated hitter, he'll do what's good for the team.
