Twins hammered in Atlanta, Worley sent to Triple-A
ATLANTA -- A week ago, Twins fans were relatively serene -- thinking a .500 season wasn't out of the question. Eight straight losses later, and .500 suddenly seems impossible.
The latest body blow was an 8-3 hammering in Atlanta Wednesday afternoon, as starter Vance Worley (1-5) was tagged for eight runs on 10 hits in three and two-thirds innings. He gave up two homers in a five-run fourth -- including a grand slam to Evan Gattis.
After the game, the Twins announced that Worley had been sent to Triple-A Rochester.
Last night, it was Gattis who hit a two-out, game-tying homer run to force the game into the 10th inning, which the Braves eventually won, 5-4.
Twins MLB beat writer Rhett Bollinger put Worley's outing in perspective:
For the Twins, it doesn't get much easier, as they head to Detroit for a four-game series starting Thursday night.
