The Minnesota Twins beat the Detroit Tigers 8-4 on Wednesday night at Target Field. The Twins took two of the three games in the series from the Tigers.

The Twins took the lead with a three-run sixth inning. A double from Danny Santana, a triple from Brian Dozier and a double from Joe Mauer helped the Twins score three runs to take the lead. Minnesota then added two more runs in the eighth to put the game away.

Santana was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Dozier was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs and Mauer also was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.

Twins starter Kyle Gibson (12-11) overcame a rough start to hold the Tigers scoreless over his final four innings on the mound to pick up the win. Gibson gave up all four runs he surrendered in the first two innings of the game.

Ryan Pressly, Brian Duensing, Michael Tonkin and Jared Burton combined for three scoreless innings of relief.

The Twins are off on Thursday and start their final home weekend series of the season against Cleveland on Friday.
