Twins (65-87) fans had to stay up late to watch their favorite baseball team lose in Oakland last night, 8-6.

Kevin Corriea gave the Twins a chance to win with five strong innings. He allowed just two runs on six hits, but a high pitch count of 101 knocked him out of the game earlier than he wanted.

Brian Duensing got two outs before allowing a solo home run to Alberto Callaspo. The next batter singled off Duensing and the left-hander was replaced by Anthony Swarzak. Swarzak gave up a quick single before serving up a three-run homer to Jed Lowrie, which broke a 3-all tie.

The Twins started a rallied with a solo home run by Oswaldo Arcia in the seventh, and they put two more runs on the board in the eighth. Brian Dozier's two-out RBI single tied the game.

But in the bottom of the eighth, Oakland's Coco Crisp smashed a two-run home run off Shairon Martis to give the A's the win.

With three more losses the Twins will reach 90 losses for a third straight season. The only worse stretch of Twins baseball came from 1997-2000 -- a four year stretch of 90+ losses.
