Twins off Target; suffer 10th straight home loss, 2-0 to Blue Jays

This never happened in the Metrodome. Nor at Met Stadium, for that matter.

You have to go back to the 1957 Washington Senators to find the last time the franchise now known as the Minnesota Twins lost ten straight home games.

The most recent Target Field defeat came in the form of a 2-0 pitcher's duel with the Toronto Blue Jays Sunday afternoon. The Twins' Andrew Albers bounced back nicely from his worst big-league outing. Pitching in front of a crowd that included plenty of Canadian visitors, the Saskatchewan native threw seven shutout innings.

Manager Ron Gardenhire then took Albers out of the scoreless tie after the rookie had thrown 97 pitches. Reliever Jared Burton allowed two runs in the eighth, which proved to be the only scoring in the game.

Offensively, Minnesota mustered just five hits. They included two singles by rookie center fielder Alex Presley. Pedro Florimon started the sixth inning with a double, but was later thrown out at home while trying to score on a ground ball.

Peruse the box score here. Or just look ahead to Monday night's game with the Angels. It's the makeup of a rained-out game and is the fourth in a ten-game homestand for the home-struggling Twins.
