Twins officially sign Mike Pelfrey

The Minnesota Twins have officially signed ex-Met Mike Pelfrey to a one-year, $4 million contract after he passed a physical Wednesday.

The 28-year-old pitcher is one of three new faces in the rotation, the Star Tribune reports. The Twin signed veteran righthander Kevin Correia last week and traded for righthander Vance Worley two weeks ago. Scott Baker is the only sure thing returning in 2013.

Pelfrey spent most of last season recovering from Tommy John surgery on his elbow after starting just three games for the Mets.

The Pioneer Press says his best season was in 2010, when he finished 15-9 with 3.66 earned-run average. He has a career record of 50-54 with a 4.36 ERA in seven seasons with New York.

A source tells the Star Tribune that Minnesota may not be done adding pitchers. The team is reportedly still in the hunt for lefthander Joe Saunders.
