Twins infielder Doug Bernier joins the ranks of those sent to Triple A this week by the Minnesota Twins, as the club outrighted him today, cutting their roster to 35.

Bernier spent 11-plus years in the minors, getting only four plate appearances at the major league level in that time, before being called up by Minnesota this year.

For the Twins, he appeared in 33 games, hitting just .226.

Earlier this week, pitcher Josh Roenicke, Cole De Vries, Shairon Martis, and outfielder Clete Thomas all met the same fate, as Minnesota begins their purge of a team that lost 96 games for the second consecutive season.
