Now that Byron Buxton and Alex Meyer have been called up to the Twins, a couple of their newer top prospects will participate in this year's Major League Baseball Futures Game.

Right-handed pitcher Jose Berrios and first baseman-outfielder Max Kepler have been named to the World Team for the Futures Game in Cincinnati next month.

Both play for the Twins Class Double-A affiliate in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Star Tribune notes that both Kepler and Berrios were selected to play in the Southern League All-Star Game – where it was Berrios who picked up the win on the mound.

It will be Berrios' second straight appearance in the Futures Game, he played in last year's game at Target Field. On the season, Berrios is 7-3 with a 3.23 ERA.

Berrios has been getting a lot of attention for his ascended in the minors over the last year. Off the Baggy notes:

"Keith Law nearly had him on the outside looking in when it came to his top 100 prospects. Not knowing whether or not the throwing plane would translate against more advanced hitters, evaluators seemed nervous about projecting Berrios going forward. Now with more than half of the season under his belt, Berrios has continued to squash those concerns. Law has since moved Berrios into the top 25 of his prospects list, and the hurler has only made the nation take a heightened level of notice."

Kepler, who hails from Germany, is hitting .342 with three home runs for the Lookouts this season.

The Futures Game is being played in Cincinnati on July 15.
