Twins put a 10-0 beatdown on Mariners

It was hard for Twins fans to find anything to complain about at Target Field Sunday.

The rain took a day off -- in fact the sun even came out -- and the local nine opened up a can of something or other on the Seattle Mariners.

Lefthander Scott Diamond pitched six innings and three relievers contributed to the shutout.

Offensively the Twins hit four home runs, including Chris Herrmann's first in the big leagues. Ryan Doumit, Josh Willingham, and Brian Dozier also went long.

Dozier and Aaron Hicks each had three hits, and the two of them combined for 13 total bases. Every Twin in the lineup had a hit with the exception of Pedro Florimon -- and even he drove in a run.

Take a peek at the box score here.

Minnesota spoiled the return of Seattle pitcher Jeremy Bonderman. He was making his first major league start since 2010, after rehabbing from reconstructive elbow surgery.

Justin Morneau missed his second straight game with flu symptoms.

After playing 17 games in as many days, the Twins have earned a day off Monday. That busy stretch started during a 10 game losing streak. But Minnesota has recovered nicely, winning seven of its last nine.

Monday's off day is followed by three games each in Kansas City and Washington.
