Out of baseball in 2017, 33-year-old Tim Lincecum will try to convince an MLB team to give him another chance when he holds a private workout for teams on Thursday.

Among the teams planning to go see the two-time Cy Young winner: the Minnesota Twins.

With Twins pitchers and catchers holding their first workout of spring training on Wednesday, they'll do so still in need of filling out the starting rotation.

Jose Berrios, Kyle Gibson and Ervin Santana are locks, but Santana is out for the first month of the season with an injury to the middle finger on his pitching hand, so there's fairly significant pressure on the Twins to add one, maybe even two starters before the season begins March 29 in Baltimore.

The latest rumors on the Twins' search for a starter

The Twins have reportedly reached out to the Rays about All-Star right-hander Chris Archer, but this quote from Twins GM Thad Levine on Tuesday makes one think that the asking price might be too high.

That's where Lincecum gets a little more interesting, especially if he shows any signs of being the pitcher that he was in 2013, when he finished with a 4.37 ERA and 193 strikeouts in 197 innings. It wasn't as good as his dominant years of 2008-11, but it was respectable – and the strikeout numbers would be more than welcome in Minnesota.

Rockies pitcher Adam Ottavino posted a photo of a bulked up Lincecum to his Instagram in December.

Lincecum last pitched with the Los Angeles Angels in 2016 after they signed him following a workout similar to what he's expected to do this week. The result was a nice debut (6 innings, 4 hits, 1 run) against Oakland followed by eight straight rough outings that led to his release.

Levine's memories of Lincecum are probably a little more emotional than most because Lincecum was the guy who started and won games 1 and 5 (the clincher) of the 2010 World Series against the Rangers, whom Levine was working for at the time.

That was when Lincecum was near his best, having won the National League Cy Young Award in 2008 and '09, he then clinched the 2010 World Series for the Giants with 10 strikeouts over 8 innings.
