Twins sign ex-Yankee reliever Cody Eppley
The Minnesota Twins have signed ex-Yankees reliever Cody Eppley to a minor league deal, and assigned him to Triple-A Rochester, according to the Yankees' YES network.
To make room, the Twins released righthander Anthony Slama:
Eppley, 27, was released by the Yankees on June 5. He started the 2013 season in the New York bullpen, but was eventually sent down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
In 71 appearances for the Yankees and Texas Rangers, Eppley is 2-3 with a 4.61 ERA.
SB Nation figures Eppley won't make much of a dent -- if any -- in the Twins bullpen. But he could be a find for the Triple-A club, especially when it comes to piling up strikeouts against minor league batters.
