Twins take down Chicago, 7-4

The Twins overpowered Chris Sale and the White Sox, 7-4 Wednesday night at Target Field.

Kevin Correia did what he's done for the Twins most of the season by throwing 6 2/3 quality innings. He struck out six and walked none.

He allowed a run in the first inning, but once he was given a lead, he didn't give it back.

Minnesota claimed the lead with three runs in the second inning, all of which came on a three-run home run from Brian Dozier.

The Twins added runs in the third and sixth innings on RBI singles from Trevor Plouffe and Josh Willingham, and buried the White Sox when Justin Morneau followed Willingham with a 370-foot home run to put the Twins on top, 7-1.

The homer snapped Morneau's streak of 168 at-bats without a long ball. It also tied Kirby Puckett on the all-time Twins list with 207 career home runs.

Chicago got a few runs back in the eighth inning, but Glen Perkins pitched a quick 1-2-3 ninth for his 18th save of the season.

Note: Perkins has 40 strikeouts, good for second on the team behind Correia's 48.
