The Twins beat the Royals, 4-2 Wednesday night to win the series in Kansas City. Nick Blackburn returned from the disabled list and overcame a rough first inning to earn the win. He allowed a two-run homer in the first before settling down over his final four innings.
Offensively, the Twins were led by Justin Morneau -- his two-run single in the fifth inning put the Twins on top for good, 3-2. Ryan Doumit got the scoring started for the Twins with an RBI double in the first. Jamey Carroll finished off the scoring with an RBI single in the seventh.
Ben Revere finished 2-4. Denard Span had the night off so Revere was the leadoff hitter. He was a quiet key to the game, scoring the fourth Twins' run after his second triple of the season to start the seventh inning. His biggest impact on the game happened in his first at-bat. He started the game with a line drive off Royals' starter Felipe Paulino's leg. Revere reached on a single, but Paulino had to leave the game a short time later with a strained groin.
Kansas City's bullpen was forced to finish the final 8.1 innings of the game.
Matt Capps closed the game with a 1-2-3 ninth for his 14th save.
Minnesota has won 7 of 9 and heads home to play the Cubs in interleague play on Friday.
