Reports: Twins talks with Arroyo heating up, still interested in Pierzynski

Bronson Arroyo wearing a Twins uniform in 2014 is a possibility.

The Pioneer Press reports that the Twins "have discussed guarantee language" with Arroyo's representatives at the MLB General Manager's Meetings taking place this week in Florida.

Arroyo is fresh off a season with the Cincinnati Reds in which he finished 14-12 with a 3.79 earned-run average. He's won 105 games with the Reds over the past eight seasons.

Only C.C. Sabathia and Dan Haren have thrown more innings than Arroyo (1,185 2/3) since 2005.

The Twins might have to pony up some cash if they want to sign the 37-year-old. Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors speculated back in September that Arroyo would be deserving of a contract somewhere along the lines of two-years and $24 million.

John Heyman of CBS Sports reported this week that the Twins are interested in an old friend -- A.J. Pierzynski. Heyman believes the Twins would like to sign him to a one-year contract.

Pierzynski played for the Twins from 1998-2004. He's a career .282 hitter with 172 home runs and 800 RBI.
