Twins' Hendriks to start Saturday?

Liam Hendriks' 10-strikeout gem Saturday at Triple-A Rochester might have been good enough to get him another start with the Twins. Ron Gardenhire tells reporters Hendriks and Jeff Manship are in line to get a spot start against the Milwaukee Brewers this weekend.

Hendriks likely to start season in rotation

Scott Baker (elbow) and Jason Marquis (personal) likely won't start the first trip through the rotation, so Liam Hendriks will likely start against Baltimore next Sunday, according to the Pioneer Press. That would allow Nick Blackburn to start the Twins' home opener April 9th against the Angels. Hendriks is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA this spring.

Hendriks 4-0 since being sent back to AAA

Since being optioned back to Class AAA Rochester in early May, Liam Hendriks is 4-0 with a 2.39 ERA. Hendriks made the Twins big league club out of spring training, but struggled mightily before being sent back to the minors.

An apparent case of food poisoning is keeping Twins' starting pitcher Liam Hendriks in a Baltimore hospital until Monday, according to MLB.com. Hendriks was admitted to the hospital on Saturday, and forced to miss his start against the Orioles on Sunday. He was replaced by Anthony Swarzak.

Baker out for the season, attention turns to Marquis, Hendriks and Swarzak

The Twins announced Wednesday that starter Scott Baker will miss the entire 2012 season to surgically repair his right elbow. With Baker out, the Twins will have to rely on Jason Marquis and Liam Hendriks to help stabilize the rotation.
