Had the start of the MLB season not been postponed by the coronavirus pandemic, Twins top prospect Royce Lewis may very well have been dominating at Double-A Pensacola with eyes set on making the jump to Triple-A Rochester.
Instead, everything is on hold and the wait for Lewis, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft, continues. But Lewis has found a way to keep fans informed by launching his own YouTube channel.
As of this writing, Lewis only has 65 subscribers. But that number is surely going to blossom as people find out what he's up to. In his debut video, Lewis said he's "always been super passionate about broadcast journalism and I wanted to give you guys an inside scoop into my life."
He said he'll be creating content about his interests, including cooking, working out and playing video games.
Lewis fought through nagging injuries in 2019 and wound up hitting .236/.290/.371, with 26 doubles, four triples, 12 homers and 49 RBI across two levels of the minors, though he finished very strong in the Arizona Fall League and homered in his first at-bat this spring before the pandemic stopped play days later.
