The Minnesota Twins have traded outfielder Oswaldo Arcia to the Tampa Bay Rays.

The move was announced on Friday, just over a week after the Twins designated Arcia for assignment.

In exchange, the Twins will get a player – to be named at a later stage – or cash for the 25 year old.

The Twins DFA'd the left-hander last Thursday to make room for Danny Santana coming off the DL, giving them the option to either trade him, release him, or send him to the minors if he cleared waivers.

The Rays came in for him, as 1500ESPN predicted would happen saying it was unlikely a "player of his caliber" would slip through unclaimed.

Although his line this year is a disappointing .214/.289/.369 and he had been pushed out of the team by Robbie Grossman and Max Kepler, ESPN says that while he is flawed, he has potential.

The Star Tribune notes Arcia hit 14 home runs as a rookie in 2013 and followed it up with 20 homers in 2014.
