The Minnesota Twins took advantage of some defensive miscues by the Kansas City Royals to win 4-3 Sunday afternoon and complete a series sweep at Target Field.

A throwing error in the eighth inning by Royals relief pitcher Wade Davis gave the Twins the win.

The bases were loaded with one out in the bottom of the eighth, when the Twins' Chris Herrmann hit a short ground ball in front of the plate. Davis fielded it cleanly, but overthrew the catcher and allowed two runs to score, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

The game was a pitcher's duel until the seventh inning, the Star Tribune reports, until Josmil Pinto hit a two-run home run off Royals starter Jason Vargas to break the scoreless tie.

The Royals scored three runs in the top of the eighth to take a 3-2 lead for a short time, until the Twins brought in what turned out to be the winning runs in the bottom half of the inning.

The victory brought the Twins (6-6) back to .500 on the season. They host the Toronto Blue Jays for three games starting Tuesday.
