Twins won't sign autographs amid coronavirus concerns

The team instituted a no-physical-contact policy on Thursday morning.

Fans hoping to get an autograph from their favorite Twins players at spring training won't be able to as the team has instituted a no-physical-contact policy to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The team informed players about the policy Thursday morning.

The policy bans players from accepting sharpies and other writing utensils from fans, in addition to restricting high-fives and handshakes.

Last week, MLB officials sent a memo to teams suggesting precautions be taken due to the ongoing coronavirus threat. Despite the restriction, the Twins are trying to figure out a way to get autographs to fans without making physical contact.

While MLB does not have any current plans to postpone or cancel games, the concern is something that currently hangs over all sports as the Twins' opener is three weeks away in Oakland.
