Twins wrestle one away from Chicago, prevail 4-3 in afternoon matchup

Scott Diamond notched his eighth quality start of the season, and Minnesota did just enough to avoid a sweep at US Cellular Field in a 4-3 win over the White Sox Wednesday afternoon.

The Twins put up the first four runs of the game before Alejandro De Aza went deep for the 16th time this season for Chicago, narrowing the gap to three runs.

Diamond then gave up a two-run single to starting pitcher John Danks brother Jordan, trimming Minnesota's lead to one.

The bullpen was steadfast, however, going 2 2/3 innings, with Glen Perkins picking up his 36th save of the season.

Danks (4-15) took the loss, while Diamond (6-11) picked up the win.

Minnesota roll into its final 11 games of the season tomorrow, the opener of four on the west coast against Oakland, at 9:05 p.m.
