The run continues for the U.S. men's hockey team. The Americans defeated the Czech Republic 5-2 on Wednesday in Sochi, Russia.

Dustin Brown's goal late in the first period broke a 1-1 tie, and put the U.S. in position to run away with it.

The Czech Republic had tied the game a few moments earlier on a miscue by the U.S. American defenseman Ryan McDonough tried to clear a puck in front of the U.S. goal, when the puck went off the left skate of Ryan Suter and got by Jonathan Quick for the Czech goal.

Phil Kessel and Zach Parise each got in on the goal scoring for the Americans.

Parise's goal put the American's up 4-1, midway through the second. Kessel netted his fifth goal of the games when he put the U.S. 5-1 early in the third.

Quick finished the game with 21 saves.

The U.S. now advances to face the Canadians in the semi-finals. They will play on Friday at 11 a.m. Minnesota time.

Canada defeated Latvia 2-1 Wednesday.
