Unnamed Packer: 'Refs are out to get us'

From Packer-land, a bit of paranoia. In the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel an unnamed Packers player told a reporter, ”I think the refs are out to get us this year.” NBC’s Mike Florio says the comment not only warps reality, but it amazingly covers two sets of refs: regular and replacement.

It's come to this.

After a struggling to a 2-3 start, there's now a bit of paranoia in the Green Bay Packers camp. In a Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel article which focuses on Packer penalty yards (they lead the NFL in flags), a player -- who was not identified -- said, "I think the refs are out to get us this year."

No word if he said it with a wink and a smile -- or if he was totally serious -- but already the quote has jaws dropping across the NFL.

NBC's Mike Florio took the unnamed player to the Wisconsin woodshed, writing, "We’ll never cease to be amazed by the extent to which some folks will warp reality in the hopes of blaming someone else for things that are their own fault."

Ouch.
