A fourth consecutive improbable victory has the United States men's curling team into the gold-medal game at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.

Tied 2-2 going into the eighth end, the U.S. stole two points from Canada to take a 4-2 lead, and they held on for a 5-3 win, putting them into Saturday's gold-medal match against Sweden.

USA's improbable spot in the championship didn't look possible just at the start of the week.

Entering play Monday, they were 2-4 and on the brink of eliminating themselves from medal-round contention. But they stunned Canada, beating them for the first time ever, and then followed with upset wins over Switzerland on Tuesday and Great Britain on Wednesday.

And their second win over Canada in Thursday's semifinals didn't come without drama.

Leading 4-3 in the 10th and final end, Canada placed a rock on the button, a sure two points unless American skip John Shuster, one of four Minnesota natives on the team, rolled a perfect final rock, bumping Canada off the bottom to clinch the game and advance to the gold-medal game.

Tyler George (Duluth), John Landsteiner (Duluth) and Joe Polo (Duluth) are the other three Minnesotans. Matt Hamilton, the guy with the awesome mustache, is from Wisconsin.

USA vs. Sweden starts at 12:35 a.m. Central Time Saturday.
