Brackets are being completed, 68 teams are in place for their Big Dance appearance and while the NCAA's Division I teams are center stage, it's not the only hoop show making a Championship run. The University of St. Thomas is geared up for a title push of their own at the Division III Final Four this Friday.

UST faces 30-1 Christopher Newport University of Virginia in the late game at Salem Civic Center. The Captains are ranked fourth in the country and have won 21 games in a row heading into the Final Four.

Coach John Tauer's Tommies have become use to post-season play, though.

UST went to the 2013 Final Four and lost to Mary Hardin-Baylor 74-67. In 2011, the Tommies capped a 30-3 season with a D-lll National Championship beating Wooster 78-54. The Tommies reached the Final Four by upsetting Augustana in the Division III Regional Finals.

“We don’t care who scores,” senior guard Taylor Montero told the Star Tribune. “That’s not what St. Thomas is about. I always say our dream is to have the third-best player off the state champion.”

St. Thomas' success is now turned to domination in the MIAC conference in multiple sports. In football, the Tommies have earned Stagg Bowl Championship appearances, losing to Mount Union last December and again were defeated in the 2012 national championship game to Mount Union. The UST baseball team is a regular in the DIII NCAA Tournament, even winning the 2009 Division III Baseball Championship.
