Vargas homer isn't enough, White Sox win in 10

A two-run home run by Kennys Vargas in the bottom of the first inning gave the Twins an early lead, but two 10th inning home runs from Chicago were the difference as the White Sox beat the Twins 6-3, Tuesday night.

Dayan Viciedo and Tyler Flowers homered in the 10th inning off Twins' reliever Lester Oliveros to lift the White Sox. It was the second home run of the game for Flowers, who also hit a second inning blast off Twins starter Tommy Milone.

Oliveros (0-1) took the loss for the Twins in his first appearance since returning to the club as a September call up.

Milone had another disappointing starts for the Twins. He gave up three runs on five hits in just 3 2/3 innings of work. Anthony Swarzak, Jared Burton, Casey Fien and Glen Perkins kept the White Sox scoreless into the ninth inning, to give the Twins a chance.

Chicago reliever Daniel Webb picked up the win, while Minnesota native Jake Petricka picked up his 10th save.

Vargas' two-run homer was his fifth since joining the team in early August. Vargas put together one of the best first months in the majors in the history of the game. His 38 hits and 24 RBIs in August rank second in MLB history to Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio, who had 48 hits and 28 RBIs in May of 1936 – his first month in the big leagues.

The series continues tomorrow at Target Field. Trevor May (0-4) resumes the search for his first Major League win against Chicago's John Danks.
