Vegas sportsbooks prepare for a possible Aaron Rodgers retirement
With less than a week before training camp, Vegas sportsbooks are preparing for the possibility that Aaron Rodgers will retire.
According to Pro Football Talk, the over-under totals for the Green Bay Packers have disappeared from DraftKings, PointsBet and Westgate SuperBook as the drama between the Packers and their star quarterback has simmered over the summer.
The new wrapped up a tumultuous day for the Packers where NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that star receiver Davante Adams has broken off talks on a long-term extension with the team.
Several hours later, linebacker Za'Darius Smith was looking for a suggestion for a realtor in Green Bay via Twitter, but later downplayed it.
Still, there are many questions as to what's going on in Green Bay. A report last week said that Rodgers turned down a contract extension that would have made him the highest-paid player in the NFL and the two sides have been at odds since last April's NFL Draft.
That situation has created a ripple effect across the NFC North. According to Sports Illustrated's Bill Huber, Westgate has removed all prop bets in the division including win totals, playoff odds, divisional odds and weekly lines.
Huber also reports the expectation is for Rodgers to announce his retirement sometime before the Packers' first training camp practice on Wednesday.
The football world will be on its heels for a possible announcement but especially Viking fans who may finally get rid of their long-time nemesis.
