A bench-clearing brawl between two Minnesota high school hockey teams marred an outstanding playoff game Thursday night.

According to SB Nation, the section playoff game between No. 4-seed Bloomington Jefferson and No. 5-seed Holy Angels ended with a brawl that ignited when one player tackled another. Benches cleared and punches were thrown, the report says.

Holy Angels Activities Director Michael Kautzman told BringMeTheNews the school is "in the midst of our investigation period" and currently has no comment.

We've reached out to the Minnesota State High School League and Bloomington Jefferson as well.

A couple of people in the stands caught the moment on camera, but the video isn't great.

Very few details about the melee are available and the video doesn't last long enough to determine how long the fighting lasted.

Jefferson won the game 3-2 thanks to a goal with just 47 seconds left on the clock. Holy Angels had tied the game 2-all with under four minutes to play.

Jefferson advanced to play defending state champion Edina on Saturday. The State Tournament will be held at Xcel Energy Center March 4-7.
