Video: Jordyn Leopold 'happy and excited' after father's first game with Wild

By now you've heard the story about Jordan Leopold's 11-year-old daughter, Jordyn, writing a letter to the Minnesota Wild asking the team to make a trade to bring her father home.

Leopold, a Golden Valley native, won the Hobey Baker Award and led the Gophers to the National Championship in 2002.

The letter was never actually delivered to the team, but Leopold's wife Jamie posted it on Facebook. A copy of it was sent to KFAN's Paul Allen on Monday morning.

Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher said he first heard about the letter Monday and after he saw it, he felt more pressure to close the deal to bring Leopold back to Minnesota.

So about an hour before the NHL's Trade deadline, the Wild announced the deal that sent Justin Falk and a fifth-round pick to Columbus for Leopold – and making a dream come true for father and daughter.

He debuted in the Wild's 3-2 shootout victory over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night, picking up the victory in his first game back in his home state.

Here is how Jordyn felt about it.
