Video: Parise gushes blood after taking a stick to his face

Zach Parise doesn't need to buy a Halloween costume. And he may not want to open the door and hand out candy to trick-or-treaters because the gash on his face from a inadvertent stick in Monday night's game against the Rangers is nasty.

In the second period, Parise, already down on a knee battling for a puck behind the net, was whacked in the face by Rangers defenseman Marc Staal's stick. Here's the FOX Sports North video of the play. Warning: the blood exits Parise's nose/face area fast.

Parise went to the locker room, got stitched up, and returned to play. He's a hockey player. That's what they do.

The Wild lost the game 5-4, despite leading 3-0 in the third period. But the sub-talker from the game was the dirty play by the Rangers.

As noted by USA Today, Chris Krieder and John Moore were ejected after delivering cheap shots to Jonas Brodin and Erik Haula.

Krieder sent Brodin head first into the boards with this dirty shot in the first period. After the game Brodin said he suffered a hand injury, and one of his fingers was swollen, according to Michael Russo.

Moore knocked Haula out of the game with a terrible elbow to Haula's head. Haula didn't return and Moore was assessed with an intent-to-injure penalty, which will be automatically reviewed by the NHL.

Wild coach Mike Yeo didn't have an update on either player after the game. The Wild is back on the ice Tuesday night against the Boston Bruins.
