This year marks the 40th anniversary of the infamous brawl between Minnesota and Ohio State at Williams Arena. With 36 seconds left, the Gophers' Corky Taylor helped Luke Witte to his feet and then kneed him in the groin. Chaos followed.

Prairie Seeds out of state soccer tournament after brawl

Minnesota boys soccer officials have barred Prairie Seeds Academy from the state soccer tournament, but not because players got into a fist fight with players from Totino Grace High School after an Oct. 18 game. The Minnesota State High School League started investigating Prairie Seeds after the brawl and determined the team had an ineligible player because of a paperwork issue. The academy may go to court to challenge the ruling.

Gophers favored against Miami (Ohio)

Their coach has been hospitalized, and they’ve lost their first two games. But the oddsmakers are still in the Gophers’ corner. Minnesota is listed as 4 1/2 point favorites against Miami of Ohio Saturday.
