The Vikings entered Saturday with 88 players on the roster and that number is now 53 after 35 cuts were made before the 3 p.m. deadline.
Among the big names to be released are kicker Kaare Vedvik, wide receivers Laquon Treadwell and Brandon Zylstra, and quarterback Kyle Sloter.
You can see the full list of cuts at Vikings.com.
Minnesota was reportedly trying to trade Treadwell and Sloter, but there were apparently no takers for two players who every team in the league now gets a free run at in free agency.
Vedvik's future is uncertain, but ESPN's Courtney Cronin says the Vikings hope he clears waivers so they can sneak him onto the practice squad. But as it stands now, the Vikings have released a kicker they gave up a fifth-round pick for less than a month ago.
