Minnesota Vikings second-year cornerback Jabari Price has been suspended the first two games of the 2015 season for violating the league's policy on substance abuse.

Price was arrested on suspicion of DWI on Dec. 29, shortly after the Vikings 2014 season concluded. He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of careless driving, the Star Tribune reported, and he had to spend 30 days under electronic home monitoring, enroll in substance-abuse classes and pay a $300 fine.

The Vikings released a statement saying Price will be eligible to return to the active roster on Monday, Sept. 21, following the team's Week 2 game agains the Detroit Lions.

Price apologized via a statement of his own.

“I sincerely apologize to my family, my teammates, the Vikings organization and Vikings fans for the mistake I made last winter," he said. "I can assure you that it will never happen again. I look forward to returning to helping my team on the field in week 3.”

Price was a seventh-round draft pick in 2014 and he finished his rookie season with 10 tackles in 14 games. He played primarily on special teams.

Vikings Territory adds that Price enters training camp with a chance to earn a significant role in the secondary of the defense.
