Vikings defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd out after ankle procedure

There's no timetable set for when Vikings defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd will return from an ankle injury.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Floyd, who missed Sunday's game after suffering a knee and ankle injury against Kansas City, had a procedure to remove a piece of cartilage from his left ankle.

Floyd wore a walking boot at Winter Park Monday.

"I can't discuss the injury. Anything about [a timetable] is between coach Zimmer and my position coach," Floyd told the Star Tribune. "I can't make that decision myself."

Floyd also didn't have a lot of information on how long he will be out, saying the decision on his return wasn't all his to make, noting both the trainers and coach Zimmer also factor in the decision.

Zimmer didn't offer a lot in the way of clarity either. "I've heard all kinds of ranges," Zimmer said Monday.

Floyd told the newspaper he felt a little gimpy after the Kansas City game, but was surprised to learn how serious the injury was.

Through six games, Floyd has recorded nine tackles and a sack.
