The Star Tribune reports Vikings vice president Lester Bagley and Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission chairman Ted Mondale are looking at a site southeast of the Metrodome. Report: Negotiators accelerate plans for new Vikings stadium in Minneapolis

Ted Mondale told the Star Tribune the latest fast-moving proposal would keep the Vikings at the Metrodome through 2015. Once a new stadium next-door is 75 percent complete, the Vikings would only have to play a few games at the University of Minnesota's TCF Bank stadium. Mondale told the newspaper, "I would think 2016 would be the 'go live' year."

Vikings say site next to Metrodome won't work for stadium

Wilf: Metrodome site would come with $67 million in hidden costs

In a letter to Minneapolis city officials, Vikings team owner Zygi Wilf outlined "three areas of concern" that he says would substantially raise the cost of revamping the Metrodome site for a new stadium. Wilf says TCF Bank Stadium, which would host the team during construction, would require upgrades and limit team revenue, and he says the Dome site would require additional parking.
