The Minnesota Vikings kickoff their preseason on Friday night when they host the Oakland Raiders and they are reminding fans about the NFL's bag policy that restricts the type and size of bags allowed into NFL stadiums.

Officials say the league-wide policy will be in effect for the second straight year.

Vikings fans are encouraged not to bring any bags to games, but there are a few that are allowed in.

Some Vikings fans were not fans of the NFL's changes last season. The policy created long lines at security check points as fans tried to attend last year's preseason opener.

The NFL's policy change came in the aftermath of the bombings at the Boston Marathon. The league decided to ban most bags and purses from stadiums as a result.

Bags Permitted under the NFL Bag Policy

  • Official NFL team logo clear plastic tote bags
  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and do not exceed 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches.
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
  • Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap, may be carried into the stadium along with one of the clear bag options.
  • An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose

Bags that are not allowed under NFL Bag Policy

  • Purses larger than a clutch bag
  • Coolers
  • Briefcases
  • Backpacks
  • Fanny packs
  • Cinch bags
  • Luggage of any kind
  • Seat cushions
  • Computer bags
  • Camera bags
  • Or any bag larger than permissible size.

According to WCCO, fans who bring a legal bag are encouraged to have it out and ready to be inspected by security to keep the lines moving heading into TCF Bank Stadium.
