The Vikings confirmed Childs tore the patella tendon in both his right and left knees. He's expected to have surgery in the coming days and will miss the entire 2012 NFL season, the Star Tribune reports.

Meanwhile, the Vikings have signed rookie Chris Cook, a 6-4, 318 pound guard. The Green Bay Packers released the undrafted rookie on July 25.
