Go ahead and kick us while we're down, NFL.com.

The digital home base of the NFL allowed Elliott Harrison, a writer, and Gil Brandt, a football genius with enough knowledge to qualify as a historian, to rank all 48 Super Bowls, from best to worst. And wouldn't you know it, all four of the Vikings' Super Bowl appearances were ranked near the bottom.

The pain will never end, Viking fans. Never.

Of the 48 Super Bowls, Minnesota's heartbreaking losses ranked:

  • 46. Super Bowl IV: Chiefs 23, Vikings 7
  • 45. Super Bowl XI: Raiders 32, Vikings 14
  • 43. Super Bowl VIII: Dolphins 24, Vikings 7
  • 42. Super Bowl IX: Steelers 16, Vikings 6

Brandt called the loss to the Steelers a "snoozer." He also made notes that the Chiefs "killed" the Vikings, Fran Tarkenton and company "were never in" the loss to the Raiders and the loss to the Dolphins was "pretty much awful."

There you have it. Minnesota's four super sour moments are considered by a football guru to be four of the seven worst Super Bowls ever.

Thankfully, the 1991 Minnesota Twins dramatic World Series win over the Atlanta Braves is ranked by Sporting News as the second greatest Fall Classic of all-time.

If you so desire to relive one of the losses, check out this pretty cool 8 millimeter film version of Super Bowl IV.
