Vikings to camp out in Mankato through 2015

The Vikings announced today that the team will continue to hold training camp on the Minnesota State University campus in Mankato through 2015.

The three-year extension means the Purple will mark 50 consecutive summers in Mankato.

According to MSU president Richard Davenport, via Vikings.com: "Vikings training camp in Mankato is a Minnesota tradition."

Vikings owner/president Mark Wilf called the Mankato connection a "storied team tradition."

One tradition that ended this year, however, was the players residing in the Gage residence hall. That structure was put out to pasture in June, with this demolition:

The Vikes report to camp on Thursday, with the first practices on Friday. Camp closes on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
