Vikings vs. Chiefs: Week 4 preview
As Saturday turns to Sunday, football fans horrified by that ugly Gophers loss now turn their attention to the winless Minnesota Vikings -- who must win in Kansas City or suffer the embarrassment of an 0-4 start.
At the Pioneer Press, most of the sports staff there thinks Minnesota will put it together. The consensus is that the Chiefs are worse than the Vikes and they'll basically win by default.
Over at the Star Tribune, Jim Souhan goes against the grain once again. Not in his prediction, but by comparing Brad Childress to Leslie Frazier. In his opinion, Childress ran a better offense.
Fox Sports North, meanwhile, checks in with five things we should watch during the game. Number one with a bullet: Showing up for the second half.
And if the Vikes lose? Well, we all know the entire state of Minnesota will be clamoring for Christian Ponder to start next week against Arizona. To that end, Pioneer Press writer Jeremy Fowler wrote and excellent piece examining what we could expect if the rookie got the call.
As for the Chiefs, they have a rich (but short) history with the Vikings -- including that Super Bowl IV victory back in 1970. Incredibly, that entire game was spotted on YouTube, and presented below. Enjoy it while you can. We still can't believe why the NFL hasn't blown a gasket and taken it down.
Love the announcers on that one. Well, anyone that isn't Joe Buck makes the grade. Which bring us to Sunday's TV announcer. He's a guy by the name of Gus Johnson, and he is supposed to be completely awesome.
Time for your input. Will the Vikes be 1-3 after Sunday, and if they are...do you think they have a shot at the playoffs? Let us know...
