Vikings vs. Lions: Week 14 preview

OK, it's spoiler time.

Actually, it's been spoiler time for a few months -- but at 2-10 the Vikings are simply trying to bring meaning to the last month of the season. The obvious storyline is the effort to try to ruin the playoff chances of the Lions and Bears -- both at 7-5 right now -- and in the NFC Wild Card mix.

The storyline no one likes to think about is the real possibility that the Vikings could go 2-14 this year, which would be their worst ever record. Defensive end Jared Allen says he simply doesn't want to go there.

If the Lions lose Sunday, they may exclaim, "We just lost to those guys?" Hence, the 2-10 Vikings are "those guys."

Sad.

Well, at least the Vikings can enjoy the probability of drafting USC stud lineman Matt Kalil! Wait! This just in...

Back to the drawing board.

What's your take? Can you believe the Lions are better than the Vikings? Or did you see this coming five years ago? Let us know...

We're starting to wonder what Leslie Frazier's Christmas list looks like. We're pretty sure he's begging Santa for a couple of new offensive linemen, an entirely new secondary, a high-profile wide receiver and a couple of wins. Santa may not be able to provide a win, but he might be able to give Adrian Peterson the gift of a 200-yard rushing game.
