The Gophers took down Ohio State Friday 1-0 in the first outdoor hockey game at the University of Minnesota in 80 years.

The next night, more history was made.

Minnesota junior forward Sam Warning scored the first natural hat trick in Big Ten history Saturday in the Gophers 4-2 win over the Buckeyes, ensuring the maroon and gold swept their conference foe and remained the No. 1 team in the country.

For the effort, Warning was named the Big Ten's Second Star of the week, the same award he won when the Big Ten gave out their inaugural weekly awards in October.

Warning is currently tied for the team lead in goals, while leading Minnesota in points, four clear of teammate Justin Kloos with 26. He is also second in the nation in plus-minus, logging a plus-21 on the season.

The rest of the awards were a Michigan State sweep, as goalie Jake Hildebrand earned the conference's top honor of the week, taking home the First Star for stopping 77 of 79 Penn State shots on the weekend. Lee Reimer of the Spartans was named the league's Third Star.
