Watch: Dozier's plea to help flooding victims in Texas

Dozier says it kills him that he can't be in Houston to help.

Although he's not from Texas, Twins second baseman Brian Dozier is urging everyone to help the people in Texas and Louisiana that have been battered by Harvey – the hurricane-turned-tropical storm that has dumped feet of rain on flood-prone land.

To help, Dozier and the Twins started a fundraiser with a goal of reaching $50,000. As of 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, $11,060 had been raised – $10,000 of which is from Dozier. You can donate here

"It kills me to see everything that's going on down in Houston with the hurricane, and it kills me even more knowing that I cannot be there physically to help," said Dozier.

"Anything, and I mean anything helps. Whether it's $1 you wanna give, a thousand dollars, whatever the case may be. But there are thousands and thousands and thousands of people that need our help."

The Twins have a handful of players who were born in Texas, including relief pitcher Tyler Duffey, who grew up in Houston.

The Twins also started auctioning off game-worn cleats from their Fourth of July game with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross. The auction runs through Sept. 3.
