Watch: Minnesota United 'keeper makes embarrassing own goal gaffe

Poor Sammy Ndjock. If you're reading, look away now.

The Minnesota United goalkeeper had a night to forget as his team took on Bournemouth from the English Premier League in a friendly at the National Sports Center in Blaine.

The home side had just conceded and were looking to get back in the game when the ball was picked up by Ndjock.

Looking to start an attack quickly, he moved to throw the ball to one of his teammates, but changed his mind halfway through, and inexplicably threw it into his own net.

The embarrassing own goal was missed by some of the fans in the stand, who let out a large groan when it was replayed on the big screen.

The unfortunate goal has already been picked up by national and international news outlets, with Minnesota United – which is set to join Major League Soccer in 2018 – making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Bear in mind though that Ndjock is by no means a bad goalkeeper – in fact he was man of the match during United's 2-0 win over Indy Eleven in the NASL on Saturday. You can watch his highlights here.

Wednesday's game finished 4-0 to the EPL side, with 8,333 people in attendance.
