Eleven down, five to go. That's the bottom line for the 2011 Minnesota Vikings. At this point, they're just marking time for the season to end -- hoping to play spoiler here and there along the way.
First opportunity? This Sunday when Denver comes to town with Mr. Terrific, Tim Tebow:
Yep, all he does is win. The last four games, that is. And according to the Star Tribune, the Tebow kid has pretty good stats, too. Well, except for that lousy completion rate.
But Talented Tim apparently doesn't need passing yards to win games or fans. Jason Cole of Yahoo!Sports writes that the Broncos are winning without really scoring, and one Minneapolis woman says she'd "personally hold a Bible study every week" while the Broncos are winning.
The spotlight may also shine on Denver's breakout wide receiver, Eric Decker. The former Gopher is fourth in the NFL with eight touchdown passes this year. Not only that, but E.D. is dating country pop star Jessie James. As he told the Star Tribunes' Mark Craig: "Everything is going great."
No arguments here:
As for the Vikings, for the Purple to have a chance against Denver -- Fox Sports North's Tim Yotter believes Minnesota has to fix a lot of things before Sunday.
They started their repairs at quarterback:
The Vikings waived veteran Donovan McNabb this week. Reports are McNabb asked for his release after staff demoted him to third-string.
And former Vikings quarterback Sage Rosenfels was picked up on waivers. Rosie was waived by Miami and signed with the Vikings. He will fill a similar role he had with the team in 2009 when he backed up Tavaris Jackson and Brett Favre.
It's too bad Rosenfels can't play offensive line, wide receiver, cornerback or safety. The Vikings are struggling with injuries to those positions, and could use a lot of help.
What's your take? Do the Vikes have enough in the tank to spoil the Broncos' playoff run? Let us know...
