Punches thrown between a parent and coaches at a Mite hockey game last Sunday in West Fargo led to a Canadian team being thrown out of the tournament.

Mike Prochnow, an official of the West Fargo Hockey Association, says a mother was upset about a call on the ice and started screaming at the other team's coaches, KFGO Radio reports. Prochnow told the radio station that the woman then marched right into the other team's locker room.

"Some parents were not happy with what happened on the ice during the 8-year-old Mites tournament, and we had a mom go into the locker room after the coaches," Prochnow told WCCO.

He said the woman was warned four times to leave the locker room before coaches attempted to escort her to the door.

"Her husband jumped over the top of her, and started punching the coach of the opposing team," Prochnow told WCCO.

KFGO reports other coaches on the team also got involved. Prochnow told the radio station that the husband got the worst of it, suffering a black eye and a bloody lip.

Police were called to the arena, but according to the Fargo Forum, by the time they arrived the fight had been expelled from the arena and no one wanted to file charges.

Valley News Live reports the team whose parents started the fight was ejected from the tournament.

According to KFGO, Prochnow said the whole fight happened right in front of the 7 and 8-year-old hockey players.
