Lindsay Whalen played 17 minutes in her first game back from a broken hand and the Minnesota Lynx took a 1-0 series lead over the Washington Mystics with a dominating victory at Williams Arena Tuesday night.

The Lynx, playing at Williams Arena because Target Center is being renovated and Xcel Energy Center is back in control of the Minnesota Wild, showed no weakness in their 101-81 win to start the best-of-five series.

Minnesota led by 15 at the half and 28 at the end of the third thanks to a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Renee Montgomery, who finished with 18 points off the bench.

Her 3-pointer capped a WNBA record nine straight made threes by the Lynx. They shot 12-of-17 on threes for the game.

Montgomery had been starting at point guard while Whalen recovered from a broken hand that forced her to miss the final 12 regular season games.

Seimone Augustus led the Lynx with 24 points and Sylvia Fowles, the AP Player of the Year, added 18 points and 7 rebounds.

Whalen finished with 2 points and 2 assists.

Game 2 of the series is Thursday night at Williams Arena. It'll be televised on ESPN2.
