The big day has arrived for former North Dakota State standout Carson Wentz.

After making his NFL debut last week against Cleveland, the Bismarck, North Dakota, native is going to get his first taste of the NFL spotlight tonight when he and the Eagles face Chicago in Soldier Field on Monday Night Football.

Wentz threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns in his debut last week, leading the Eagles to a 29-10 victory over the Browns. So what will he do for an encore on the grand stage Monday night?

It will be interesting to see how Wentz handles playing on the road in the NFL. He started just eight road games while playing for North Dakota State. The good news is that it's not the first time he's had to go on the road and play on a bigger stage than he's ever seen before.

CSN Philly notes Wentz's first start for the Bison came at Iowa State University in front of nearly 55,000 people. How did that turn out? Wentz connected on 18 of 28 passing for 204 yards and two touchdowns in a comfortable 34-14 victory over the Cyclones.

He has some well-known supporters on his side as well. Former NFL coach turned ESPN analyst Jon Gruden – who is working the game tonight – raved about Wentz this week.

"When you meet him he's a full metal jacket," said Gruden. "This guy is all ball, all the time. His intangibles are five star and he has talent. When you combine those things, and you put him with Jason Peters and [Jason] Kelce, you give him the Matthews brothers – at running back and wide receiver – this offense suits him."

He will also have a lot of fans following him from his home state tonight. The Fargo Forum reports that ESPN has hired Video Arts Studio to do live cut-ins from a Fargo bar tonight, that is encouraging patrons to wear Wentz-related jerseys.

Kickoff is at 7:30 central, ESPN is televising the game.
