The Twins fell short in the second game of their series against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, losing by a score of 8-2.

The team jumped out to a strong start, leading the Sox 2-0 in the early going, but Chicago got hot in the fourth in what the Pioneer Press called "the nightmare inning" for Minnesota. Chicago exploded, scoring seven runs in a rally the Twins would never recover from.

The Star Tribune reported that pitcher Tommy Milone, (8-5) "who had allowed only seven runs in seven career starts against Chicago, equaled that number in the fourth inning" in the Saturday night game. Milone gave up seven runs - four earned - and eight hits in 3 2/3 innings.

The Associated Press notes the Twins went into the game trailing Texas in the race for the second AL wild card as the race tightens.

On Friday night, the Twins defeated their American League rivals. Fueled by two Trevor Plouffe homers, the Twins won 6-2 in the series opener. That was his third career game with multiple home runs.

The rubber match is Sunday in Chicago with the first pitch scheduled for 1:10 p.m.
