Wiggins, Towns, Jones will play in free Timberwolves open scrimmage next week
The core of young players the Timberwolves are counting on to help lift the franchise back into relevancy will take part in a free open scrimmage next week.
The exhibition will start at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Target Center, the team says in the announcement. It's free and open to the public – doors open at 6 p.m. for season ticket members, and 6:30 p.m. for the general public.
Scheduled to participate: Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine, Shabazz Muhammad, Gorgui Dieng, Adreian Payne, Karl-Anthony Towns and Tyus Jones.
The team then heads to Las Vegas for the start of Summer League play. They Wolves open up against the Los Angeles Lakers (and No. 2 pick D'Angelo Russell) July 10 at 7:30 p.m.
That one will be on NBA TV.
The next day, it’s against the Chicago Bulls at 5:30 p.m., followed by a contest with the Utah Jazz July 13 at 9:30 p.m.
After that, all 24 teams participating will be seeded in a tournament that starts July 15. Every team will get at least two more games from that point on, with an eventual summer league champion crowned on July 20.
