Wild answer Jets with dominant Game 3 win

Minnesota scored 4 goals in the second period to pull away.

After getting dusted in Winnipeg the first two games of the series, the Wild returned home to St. Paul for Game 3 and annihilated the Jets 6-2 Sunday night.

Minnesota poured it on in the second period. Eric Staal and Jordan Greenway scored 20 seconds apart and then Marcus Foligno tipped in a shot by Jared Spurgeon a few minutes later to ignite a sold out crowd at Xcel Energy Center.

The three goals were scored within a 3:43 span to turn a 3-2 game into a four-goal lead.

Winnipeg scored first for the third straight game

The Jets struck first on a power-play goal by Blake Wheeler, but the Wild answered back with power-play goals by Mikael Granlund and Zach Parise to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

Parise has scored in all three playoff games and he now has 15 goals in his last 20 games dating back to the regular season, with 8 of those goals in the last seven games.

Minnesota took a 3-1 lead on a wrister by Matt Dumba before Tyler Myers' second goal of the series for Winnipeg cut the Wild lead to one, but that's as close as the visitors would get.

Winnipeg leads the best-of-seven series 2-1, with Game 4 at Xcel Energy Center Tuesday at 7 p.m. on Fox Sports North and CNBC.

The home team has dominated all three games so far. Perhaps it's no surprise considering Winnipeg and Minnesota had the two best home records in the NHL during the regular season.
